Restaurant Review: BoHo – Hollywood, CA

I’m so excited to find a good new dinner place within minutes from the movie theater – 2 minutes away. I feel complete. BoHo is adjacent to the Arclight Dome and directly across from Amoeba Records. They’ve got a menu that will satisfy the indecisive craving of a mixed crowd. Like I said, if you can’t decide, order both. That’s what the theme seems to be at this place. The menu items are arranged for sharing and the atmosphere is designed for all night socializing. I had no problems getting a last-minute table for 4. We were even seated earlier and it wasn’t because the place was empty. The interior is eclectic but homey, all warm-tones with mismatched furniture and tall tree planters. It kind of reminded me of a more low-key version of XIV.
Here’s the order: Farro Salad, Ratatouille, Gruyere Pizza (without caramelized onions – we all agreed this was a brilliant decision), Belgian Fries, Seared Day Boat Scallops, Boho Burger Delux a la cambazola cheese!, Valhrona Hot Fudge Sundae, Summer Peach Crisp, and Chocolate Cake Bread Pudding (top picture). The Chocolate Bread Pudding was dense and moist with the rich taste of good semisweet chocolate. This was a tall order, and we didn’t even wait long for our food to be served – all fresh and hot.

This is the Summer Peach Crisp with almond streusel and vanilla bean ice cream on top – in other words, my favorite dessert. It might be because I will love just about any fruit cobbler dish, but this one is fresh, crispy, tart, sweet and buttery-delicious! There are no canned fruits or jams in this dish, and every ingredient is freshly homemade.

I’m not the sundae person, but this was very much loved for the cup of Valhrona hot fudge that you can pour yourself.

Cambazola should always be served with a hamburger. The Boho hamburger deluxe was spectacular – fresh, perfectly cooked, and served with an abundance of belgian fries.

Now, I know I’ve found myself a winning dish when I’m salivating as I’m chewing. This pizza is addictive – gruyere, marinara, and anchovies on top of a thin, crispy, and chewy crust – not too sweet, but tart and tangy with a salty and nutty bite.

The Farro salad is light and full of fresh summer flavors. I will always order this dish again.

The belgian french fries is not only adorable with it’s personal fryer basket platter and side of homemade ketchup and aioli dips, but these are perfect fries. They’re semi-thin, crispy and not starchy or overcooked. Also, it’s served steaming hot – the way all fries should be served.
