Winning Game Day Chicken Wings (WITH SECRET SAUCE)

By Chase / September 16, 2016

There are few things that go together as well as football and chicken wings. These two have found their way into the hearts (and mouths) of sports fans throughout America. Even if you aren’t the biggest football fan, more than likely, you enjoy a good chicken wing.

Depending on who you ask, the ideal chicken wing can be vastly different. While some enjoy the soft texture of a baked wing, others demand the crisp crunch and spicy sauce of a traditionally fried wing.

Regardless of your personal preferences, I’ve created the greatest chicken wing recipe that is bound to be a winning combination for your next football event!

Game Day Wings

Traditional Crispy Fried Chicken Wings

Want to replicate the juicy, tender and crispy chicken wings served by your favorite restaurant? If so, you’ll be surprised at just how easy making these winning wings actually is. All you need is a few ingredients, a safe place to fry and a huge appetite.

The following recipe is designed for 10 chicken wings, but it can be easily manipulated to adjust the quantity of wings. Now, let’s get to it:

Recipe Basics

Ingredient List:

● 10 Chicken Wings

● ½ Cup of All-Purpose Flour

● ¼ Tsp. of Spicy Paprika

● ¼ Tsp. of Cayenne Pepper

● ¼ Tsp. of Salt

● Your Preferred Oil for Frying

● ¼ Cup of Melted Butter

● 1 Tsp. of Black Pepper

● 1 Tsp. of Garlic Powder

Cooking Directions | A Step-by-Step Guide

Step One | In a mixing bowl, combine the salt, cayenne pepper, paprika and flour. In a separate glass bowl, place the uncooked chicken wings and carefully pour the flour mixture over them. Toss the wings so they’re evenly coated. Be sure to take precaution when handling raw chicken.

Step Two | Once the chicken wings are evenly coated with the flour mixture, cover with plastic wrap and place in your refrigerator for 90 minutes.

Step Three | After the chicken wings have rested, pour your frying oil into the deep fryer (which can be a deep cooking pot) and heat until it’s 375-degrees Fahrenheit. Use just enough oil to fully cover the wings, which is typically just over an inch or so deep.

Step Four | When the oil is at the perfect temperature, carefully place the chicken wings in the oil. Allow the chicken wings to cook for roughly 15 minutes. Keep a close eye on the wings. As soon as they begin to turn brown, they’re done. If you want extra-crispy wings, allow them to cook for a few extra minutes.

Step Five | Remove the chicken wings and place them in a heat-safe bowl. Now, to make the buffalo sauce…

Your Secret Weapon | Homemade Buffalo Sauce

Now that your chicken wings are perfectly crispy, it’s time to make the buffalo wing sauce. While there’s much debate regarding the “best” sauce, my personal favorite is the spicy and smooth traditional buffalo sauce. Feel free to adjust the ingredients to suit your taste, but the following recipe is a tried-and-true guide for a quintessential buffalo chicken wing.

Ingredient List

● ⅔ Cup of Hot Pepper Sauce (My personal favorite is Frank’s RedHot Sauce)

● ½ Cup of Unsalted Butter

● 1 ½ Tbsp. of White Vinegar

● ¼ Tsp. of Worcestershire Sauce

● ¼ Tsp. of Cayenne Pepper

● ¼ Tsp. of Spicy Paprika

● ⅛ Tsp. of Garlic Powder

● ¼ Tsp. of Salt

Cooking Directions | A Step-by-Step Guide

Step One | In a saucepan, combine the vinegar, hot sauce, butter, cayenne pepper, paprika, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce and salt. Bring the ingredients to a light simmer over medium heat.

Step Two | Using a whisk, constantly stir the ingredients. As soon as you begin to see small bubbles appear, remove from heat and continue to stir for one minute.

Step Three | Pour the freshly made buffalo sauce over the chicken wings and toss until the wings feature an even coating.
